Ice fishing

Ice fishing is suitable from beginners to experienced anglers and for those who only want the experience of fishing and visiting frozen lake.
Season expands from January to the beginning of March, but only when ice situation is good and safe. Main target is usually perch, which is a possible catch during whole season. During February it's possible try traditional and exotic burbot ice fishing when the evenings get darker.

Ice fishing offers the possibility to experience a traditional form of fishing during winter and enjoy the arctic atmosphere. 
Imatra region offers a versatile environment for ice fishing and modern equipment that we use can offer exciting moments also for experienced anglers.

Location, time and date is agreed according to client's wishes, season and situation on ice. As transportation for equipment and people we can use a Snowdog, if circumstances on the ice are good enough. Our equipment contains traditional ice fishing rods, rods with a spinning reel, different kinds of lures, baits and modern sonars (Lowrance Active Target 2).

WHAT IS INCLUDED: Guiding, fishing equipment and safety equipment.

PRICE: starting from 60€/person, ask for an offer. VAT 25,5 %.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 1-4 persons, please contact us regarding bigger groups.

DURATION: Agreed on occasion, normally 2-3h, but especially for experienced anglers we can organize whole day trips.

LANGUAGES: Finnish, English

RESPONSIBILITY: Fishing is done according to responsible methods; endangered species are set free with care. For perch, zander and pike we have measurements for big ones to set them free and continue breeding, so there will be  big ones also in the future. For zander there's also a legal measurement for its size. If you want to take fish with you, the amount of fish has to be responsible and reasonable.
When ice fishing we have to be extra careful with endangered species and big ones, because of the cold circumstances.

CUSTOMER PREPARATION: You will need to dress up warmly and sometimes waterproof clothing is needed on an ice fishing trip. Sometimes it can be extremely cold, but there might also be water on the ice, so waterproof shoes are highly recommended. Ask us for hints regarding dressing up. You will also need to pay a fisheries management fee. You can find the permit and more information here. 

AVAILABILITY: From January to the beginning of March, if needed contact us for a trip outside these dates.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner, advanced, experienced.

MEETING POINT: Agreed on occasion, but mainly trips happen around the Imatra region.    

AGE LIMITS: Recommendation for age is 7+ but with client's own consideration. Ice fishing and being on the ice takes patience and circumstances can be cold and demanding.

WHEN TO RESERVE YOUR TRIP: Suggestion is two days in advance, so there's time to make sure the ice situation is good and prepare equipment, but minimun is one day advance.
